Weekly Rants and Raves (RAWR) #488

Anne: I feel like I’m slowly draining of all energy. How long has it been since my last post? It’s been over a month at this point (looking at the date of my last post). What have I been busy doing? Anything and everything at work. What happened this year? How did 2026 start like this? The work has buried me under ten feet of mud and it is very difficult to get out. I don’t think I’ve made much progress. (At this point…is my promotion even worth it…)

Sigh…

I have problems everywhere.

And why does everyone take vacations in APRIL?! School is not in session yet????

And why did I spend almost two days watching AI-generated content on YouTube? The plot is even more scandalous than the short dramas. I like the fact that they are fast and above all narrative. Who knows how far this will progress???? Is it scary? The pace of development is quite astonishing.

Anyway…I managed to catch a few interesting shows. (I’m about to cancel most of my streaming apps… Apparently Netflix will take care of all my current drama needs…)

Ghost lawyer

I saw this pop up a few weeks ago and finally started watching it last week. I went through all the episodes pretty quickly.

The story is about a lawyer, Shin Yi Rang, who was unable to find work because his father died and was suspected of being involved in criminal activities as a prosecutor. Unable to find work, he decided to open his own law firm. (He also somehow stole his mother’s deposit) by renting a space that belonged to a recently deceased shaman. In this new “space”, he finds all the things that the shaman left behind, including an incense burner. After lighting it, he breathes in the incense, and the next thing he knows, he can see ghosts.

One of the things I really liked about this game is that while the overall plot of solving the crimes of the dead isn’t new, some of the new elements they introduce are fresh to me. The first being that ghosts, even though they know they are dead, don’t really know who they are. In the first cases, the ghosts float and their feet do not touch the ground until they learn their name and date of birth. As soon as they learn these two facts, the ghost’s feet stop and they remember, as if their entire life was flashing before their eyes.

However, our poor lawyer can be possessed when his ghosts experience something that really “moves” them. Like meeting their favorite foods, being angry or otherwise their emotions get out of control. So poor Shin Yi Rang has no choice. Worse still, he doesn’t remember anything afterwards and has no idea what he did. The only thing to stop the possession is to splash water/liquid in his face.

Han Ya Hyun is a partner at a very prestigious law firm, which initially rejected Shin Yi Rang’s application. She loses the first case against Shin Yi Rang because she had the decency not to destroy the evidence that implicated her client.

In the first ten episodes, we meet Shin Yi Rang’s brother-in-law… working at their family restaurant while also doing small acting roles, which becomes Shin Yi Rang’s biggest kick as they fight their way to places to look for “clues”. There is a priest, who was once a shaman, who helps Shin Yi Rang “send away” the spirits after their cases are solved.

So far it’s all pretty fun, unless you’re my husband and he thinks it’s too slow. I’m looking forward to the rest of the episodes.

Agent from above

This one suits my husband’s taste and pace more.

This is a Taiwanese drama broadcast on Netflix. I started looking at it and thought…I’ve SEEN the ML elsewhere (a quick search online and realized it was the ML on Let’s talk about Chu– which I also liked).

This is a fantasy drama, which takes Chinese myths and moves them into a modern setting which, to my husband, looks like Constantine. Han Chieh is a young man who atones for his sins by working for the Third Crown Prince (a god who is more or less responsible for protecting the mortal world from demons). He lives in a dilapidated building that also houses a group of ghosts who have not yet been escorted where they need to go. Apparently it’s also difficult to find good employees in the afterlife. They are way behind schedule given how many ghosts are still hanging around with nowhere to go.

Into his life comes a young girl who is dying of cancer, who continues to follow Han Chieh despite him always trying to tell her to go away. The Demon King is trying to find his way back to the mortal world, and someone is helping him organize the sacrifices for the summoning. It’s action-packed, which is why my husband likes it. Being the god’s agent also means his body can be possessed by his boss. And his boss doesn’t allow his employee to smoke…this boy can’t light a cigarette to save his life…even though he keeps trying…in vain (except in one very special case).

In the end, the good guys win and our hero must learn that he can’t save everyone. And he re-signed his contract to become the third crown prince’s human agent (probably for another 10 years).

The setup is there for season 2, let’s see if they pull it off.

And that’s it for this post. I hope everyone is having a good week and finding lots of good things to watch.

I will continue to seek entertainment… to distract my mind from my work and all the problems that come with it. Maybe I’ll be able to get out of the mud in the summer.

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
