Alice Hirose is cast in the lead role in the film “Okiharu-kun no Namida o Koroshite”. The film is based on the 2020 novel “Okiharu-kun no Namida o Koroshite” by Mio Nukaga and directed by Hitoshi Yazaki (“Strawberry Shortcakes”). For Alice Hirose, this will be her first main character role since the 2018 film “Miko Girl.” In the film “Okiharu-kun no Namida o Koroshite”, Alice Hirose will play a woman who is diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. She chooses to skip treatment and return to her island hometown. There, she meets a student who has lost all his emotions except one because of a tragedy.
“Okiharu-kun no Namida o Koroshite” will be released on October 2, 2026 in Japan.
Plot synopsis by AsianWiki: Kiyoka Odoriba (Alice Hirose) is a music teacher diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. She was told she had a year to live, but she refused treatment and returned to her hometown on an island in the Seto Inland Sea.
There, she helped at her grandmother’s cafe and directed a choir at the high school where she graduated. One of his students in the choir is Okiharu, who is always smiling. Soon she learns that Okiharu lost his family in a tsunami. She asks him why he always smiles and Okiharu replies that he lost all his emotions, such as sadness and anger, when he was swept away by the tsunami, except for joy. Following an incident, Okiharu begins to regain lost emotion and the mysterious daily life between Kiyoka Odoriba and Okiharu begins.
