The story of “Assassin(s)” will revolve around the August 15, 1974 assassination attempt against Korean President Park Chung-Hee. He survived the attempt, but his wife died from the gunshot.

Plot synopsis by AsianWiki: On August 15, 1974, shots were fired as the South Korean president delivered a speech at the 29th Liberation Day ceremony. The shooting was an attempt on the president’s life, but the First Lady is shot and later dies. An investigation takes place involving the chief inspector (Yu Hae-Jin) of the central police station, the head (Park Hae-Il) of the newspaper’s social affairs department, and the rookie reporter (Lee Min-Ho) of the social affairs department. The chief inspector, endowed with keen intuition and tenacity, and the passionate young journalist witnessed the assassination attempt firsthand. The head of the newspaper’s social affairs department unearths many unanswered questions regarding the investigation into the incident, despite the danger and pressure surrounding it.
