Trailer and teaser poster added for the movie “Sheep In The Box” starring Haruka Ayase and Daigo. The film is written and directed by Hirokazu Koreeda (“Nobody Knows”). Meanwhile, child actor Rimu Kuwaki is cast as a humanoid adopted by Otone Komoto (Haruka Ayase) and Kensuke Komoto (Daigo). He landed the role after participating in an audition involving 200 other candidates. The trailer’s caption states at the 24 second mark “A couple lost their son and adopted a humanoid robot.”

“Sheep In The Box” is scheduled to be released on May 29, 2026 in Japan.

Plot synopsis by AsianWiki: In the near future, Otone Komoto (Haruka Ayase) works as an architect. She is married to Kensuke Komoto (Daigo), who runs a construction company. The married couple decides to welcome a humanoid robot into their home as a son.
