Takashi Sorimachi, Nao Omori and Kenjiro Tsuda are cast in the Fuji TV series “Ramune Monkey”. The storyline is based on the 2025 webcomic “Ramune Monkey 1988” by Ryota Kosawa (“The Confidence Man JP”) and directed by Tomonobu Moriwaki (“Okura: Cold Case Investigation”). In “Ramune Monkey”, the three main male characters will reunite after 37 years. They reflect on the disappearance of their advisor from their college years.

“Ramune Monkey” will first air on January 14, 2026 in Japan (takes over Fuji TV time slot on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. after “Pray Speak What Has Happened”).

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Yuta Yoshii (Takashi Sorimachi), Hajime Fujimaki (Nao Omori), and Kisuke Kikuhara (Kenjiro Tsuda) are middle-aged men, with different personalities and tastes, who were friends in middle school. In 1988, they were in a film club and were engrossed in making kung fu films. Today, at 51, they feel like their lives are at an impasse. One day, news broke about human bones discovered at a construction site in Danbé.

Kisuke Kikuhara feels uncomfortable when he hears the news, because Danbe is the city where he spent his middle school years with Yuta Yoshii and Hajime Fujimaki. He decides to contact Yuta Yoshii and Hajime Fujimaki and they meet again for the first time in 37 years. As they reminisce about the good old days, they realize that their memories of their beloved advisor have become fuzzy. In addition, we find a piece of paper with a group photo from the film club. The paper has the word “missing” on it. The three men begin to investigate the mysterious disappearance of their advisor.
