Traille and poster added for the film “Strangers in Kyoto” with Mai Fukagawa. The film, directed by Masanori Tominaga (“Dynamite Graffiti”) and scripted by Atsushi Asada (“Penguin Fufu”), follows Madoka Shibusawa (May Fukagawa) as she tries to write a manga on people’s lives, including her parents-in-law in Kyoto. As she is from Tokyo, some cultural differences between cities make sure that some people get angry with Madoka Shibusawa.
“Strangers in Kyoto” will be released on June 6, 2025.
Draw the synopsis by Asianwiki: Madoka Shibusawa (May Fukagawa) works as an independent writer. She moved to Kyoto de Tokyo after marrying the eldest son of a Kyoto fan boutique for a long time. She begins to interview her parents-in-law and her long-term store owners, in order to write a manga on their lifestyles. But, Madoka Shibusawa is confused by certain cultural differences in Kyoto and she ends up making them angry.
