Anne: Happy New Year to theater lovers! (I really feel like I should change the title to “monthly” raves… considering how slowly I’ve been posting articles.)
I don’t know what dark cloud has decided to fall on me since January 1, 2026, because I have been inundated with crazy events one after another…at WORK! (As a side note, I may have to rethink my idea of going abroad for a job. I recently got an offer for a manager position that was 40k less than what I currently earn. Hm…maybe I need to wait until I can apply for a manager position…)
The only thing I can really say about the work is…now I really regret being trained on all those great records. Although I really enjoy learning different things, especially things that you really can’t learn in a classroom, the downside is that my scope of work expands. (However, you all know that my workaholic soul likes to be needed…hahahaha….)
As part of my annual review feedback, my boss said I was very good at doing difficult things and having difficult conversations. Suddenly I had an epiphany… I always knew that I never took things personally at work, and this trait really helps me. But I think the other thing that really helps me is my really bad memory. So even if I get yelled at earlier, I won’t remember it…
And that led me to my other revelation (work stress must have opened up a previously unused part of my brain…), I think my poor memory leads to my inability to recognize people. Over the last year, it has become increasingly clear that I really struggle to recognize people’s faces. Forget the fact that a lot of people at work know who I am, but I have absolutely no idea who they are. It takes me a lot of effort to remember…and the easiest way for me to remember is for the other person to say something about an event or “scene” from the last time we met. I have to walk a winding path through my memory before I find what or who I was looking for. My only hope is that my bewilderment as I search through my memory isn’t so obvious on my face… how embarrassing it is for me… to continue a conversation when I have no idea who you are.
Alright, I think that’s enough of my rambling about my life. The goal this year is to take a vacation! Yeah! (Although I also have to sign the little boy up for his summer camps…I’m already late.)
Now for what I managed to watch in early 2026.
The Imperial Coroner (season 2)

How excited was I when I saw this go on the air? Enough.
I don’t know why there is a season 2. Prince An, Chu Chu and the rest of the gang are back! I can’t believe Leng Yue married Jing Yi, but I guess having a cute and silly husband is also a good thing (I have that…hehehehe).
And from the first episode, here we go!
To be honest, I only finished episode 10. There is something… a little boring about this season. I mean it has to do with the writers picking up the PC story in the same rhythm of misunderstandings in their marriage. Based on how the characters were built in season 1, I don’t think this would be a problem.
Now…if anyone has finished this, let me know. How many episodes should I go through and move on to the crime solving part.
Love between the lines

This one kind of reminded me I love O2Oonline and offline relationships intersect. Xian Zhi Yu and Hu Xiu met in a very elaborate Whodunnit mystery game. (I mean, if this actually existed, it would be AWESOME!)
I love the visuals of the game!
Why do I feel like she was a lamb stalked by a wolf?
I’ve just started. I hope she becomes smarter.
How dare you!

What about all my short drama storylines making it to the big screen?
Wang Cui Hua, while trying to rewrite a novel she doesn’t like into something that isn’t a tired troupe, she transmigrates. While she is working late, her friend wishes her happy birthday and tells her to make a wish. And she decides to make an impossible wish: to transmigrate into the stupid novel she was reading…
Of course, she transmigrates into a cannon fodder character. She decides to survive as best she can, even though she wishes she could have read the novel a little more closely.
When she meets the Emperor, the villain of the story, she realizes that he was using modern terms. So… she decided to test it… with English.
The person inside the Evil Emperor also transmigrated into the novel around the same time.
Let’s see how this silly plot progresses.
So… what did this teach me? Definitely read the novels in detail…you never know when you’ll need them.
And that’s all I have for this week.
I’m also very excited about Bai Lu’s new drama. Let’s see how these mystery plots will be.
I hope everyone has a happy new year!
