Yuina Kuroshima is cast in the lead role in the film “Mirai”. Also appearing in the film are Nanami Yamazaki, Ryota Bando, Kanata Hosoda, Hana Kondo, Tori Matsuzaka and Keiko Kitagawa. The film is based on the novel “Mirai” by Kanae Minato (“Confessions”) and directed by Takahisa Zeze (“Threads: Our Tapestry of Love”). Meanwhile, a trailer and 3 teaser posters have also been revealed for the film.

“Mirai” will be released in May 2026 in Japan.

Plot synopsis by AsianWiki: Even though Maiko Shinomiya (Yuina Kuroshima) grew up in a complicated family environment, she lived up to her grandmother’s expectations and became a teacher. One day, Akiko Saeki (Nanami Yamazaki), who is Maiko Shinomiya’s student, receives a letter. The sender states that she is her 20 year old self.

Akiko Saeki lives in a difficult family environment. She endures the recent death of her father and spends days alone with her withdrawn mother. By writing herself answers from the future, she manages to escape, but she is cornered by the violence and intimidation of her mother’s boyfriend and by an incredible truth. In the depths of her despair, Akiko Saeki decides to kill her parents with her only friend Arisa. Maiko Shinomiya tries to reach out to save Akiko Saeki.
