Haruka Ayase is cast in the lead role in the film “Hito wa Naze Love Letter wo Kaku noka”. The film is written and directed by Yuya Ishii (“The Grand Passage”) and also based on a true story. Also starring in the film are Ami Touma, Kanata Hosoda, Satoshi Tsumabuki, Masaki Suda, Koichi Sato, Takuma Otoo, Miu Tomita, Hideyuki Kasahara, Kanji Tsuda and Hideko Hara. Synopsis by AsianWiki: 24 years ago, Nazuna Terada (Ami Touma), a 17-year-old high school student, has feelings for a high school student she sees every day on the train, but she doesn’t even know his name. Shinsuke Tomihisa (Kanata Hosoda) is a 17-year-old student. He attends a prestigious high school and hopes to become a professional boxer. On March 8, 2000, a metro derailment took place. Shinsuke Tomihisa is on this train, which runs at a different time than its usual schedule. He dies in this accident. Nazuna Terada sees the media coverage of the accident and recognizes Shinsuke Tomihisa’s photo from the show. She now knows that Shinsuke Tomihisa is the name of the boy she has feelings for.

In 2024, Nazuna Terada (Haruka Ayase) lives in the suburbs with her husband Ryoichi Terada (Satoshi Tsumabuki) and their daughter. She runs her own restaurant. Due to an occasion, she begins to write a letter, remembering her days related to Shinsuke Tomihisa. The late Shinsuke Tomihisa’s father, Ryuji Tomihisa (Koichi Sato), receives Nazuna Terada’s letter.
