Main trailer and poster added for Netflix drama series “Asura” starring Rie Miyazawa, Machiko Ono, Yu Aoi and Suzu Hirose. The drama series is a remake of the NHK drama series “Asura no Gotoku” and directed by award-winning director Hirokazu Koreeda. Along with the release of the main trailer, supporting cast members were announced for the series: Masahiro Motoki, Ryuhei Matsuda, Kisetsu Fujiwara, Seiyo Uchino, Jun Kunimura, and Keiko Matsuzaka.
“Asura” will be available for streaming from January 9, 2025.
Plot synopsis by AsianWiki: The Takezawa family includes four daughters. The eldest daughter Tsunako (Rie Miyazawa) works as a flower teacher and has done so since the death of her husband. The second daughter Makiko (Machiko Ono) is a full-time housewife. The third daughter, Takiko (Yu Aoi), works as a librarian and the youngest daughter, Sakiko (Suzu Hirose), works at a cafe as a waitress. One winter day in 1979, the four girls reunited for the first time in a long time. According to Takiko, she thinks their father Kotaro is having an affair and cheating on their mother Fuji. His mistress even has a child whose father is Kotaro. Even though the other sisters find it hard to believe, they promise to keep their mother a secret. However, because of these disturbances, various conflicts and secrets hidden in their daily lives are revealed.
