Weekly Rants and Raves (RAWR) #456

Anne: Hello theater lovers! It’s only Wednesday and the anxiety-inducing customer workshop is finally OVER!!! I can’t believe how relaxed I am right now. To be clear, the customer workshop went exactly as I predicted, I do not believe the advice I give, even though I have followed more than one program through regulatory hoops to put a drug on the market.

So now that that stress is gone…I’m going back to watching shows. During those two stressful weeks, the only thing I could focus on was these short dramas on YouTube. The plot is very similar and I can just walk away from them without investing any emotional attachment. Now that I’ve started getting interested in longer dramas again, I’m now faced with the next problem…which one should I even start an initial investment on? It shouldn’t be that hard… right?

But let’s take a quick look at the shows I’ve started recently…

Gastronomic affairs

It’s a Taiwanese drama that I saw a few weeks ago. But like all other Taiwanese dramas, this one airs at the rate of one episode per week, so… I was waiting for the moment when I had enough stock. At this point, only 7 episodes have aired, and there are a total of 12. This show reminds me Let’s eat, but the background drama is a crime story. And episode 1…

…I want hot pot at the end…And unlike the Korean drama (where I may not know all the delicious dishes featured), this show is in Taiwan…so…I might make a impulsive plane ticket purchase…

Ok… the plot… The story is about a detective, Zhu Po, who suspects that a series of related murders are being committed by a professional hitman. After a particularly bad day, he arrives at a fondue restaurant and arrives right on time. However, there is only one table left and there is another single customer. The owner gathers them at the same table and tells them to share, since it’s the last one. Although neither of them were particularly enthusiastic about the idea, they both really wanted to eat the fondue. So… they share food and experiment with each other’s eating methods. At the end of the meal, they separate.

The other lone client is Li Zi Dong, the hitman who killed the person at the crime scene where Zhu Po was that day. And episode 1 ends with Zho Po meeting Li Zi Dong at the fish market and asking him if he wants to eat with him.

So yes, I will definitely continue this…if only to look at ALL the food they eat.

The last immortal

This one I started mainly because of Zhao Lu Si. Then I realized it was the sequel to Ancient love poetry, and I went back to remember what had happened in the world. It’s really the sequel… to the little boy from the previous drama.

The story started somewhere in the middle, after A Yin had already forgotten her identity. Then we travel back in time to when she met Gu Jin. The relationship is built on the last show, where the spiritual “pet” of the True God is the most powerful Phoenix of the time.

As much as I like this type of genre, there is something strange about the look of the ML. I don’t know what it is…maybe his style is just wrong or something. I don’t feel the interest in continuing this drama, so I’ll probably skim through it once it finishes airing all the episodes.

The blue-eyed samurai

This one, I didn’t choose to watch. I was watching because my husband had started the show. The story is about Mizu, a girl outcast due to her mixed heritage and her path of revenge. It’s a simple story, the plot involves a few more characters who play different roles in her life. The ending opens the door to season 2, which has been announced.

As someone who doesn’t normally watch this type of show, I really liked it. There is no kindness in the story. Mizu’s features are very sharp, without any softness to indicate that she is not a man. It’s a very visually stimulating show. It also has terrific storytelling.

And it’s still for the week. If anyone was watching A journey to love, tell me how it goes. I keep seeing the high ratings…but I’ve been fooled before. Have a good week everyone!
