Weekly Rants and Raves (RAWR) #465

Anne: Happy Tuesday again, theater lovers! I just spent an entire weekend with a sick little boy and I barely slept. At 1 a.m., I heard a loud thud, and we thought he had fallen out of his bed or something. We got into a bed partly covered in vomit and a lot of it on the carpet side…I don’t know if he had food poisoning or a stomach virus. And it began almost 36 hours every two hours of repeated scenes of stomach aches. I don’t think we ever completely eliminated the smell.

Well…you’d think that would be it…but no…after he felt better, I ended up being brought down by something. Also related to the stomach. The little boy was very nice after school, telling me he would make me feel better… I just need a cuddle buddy (in the form of a “creeper”), a blanket, a sofa and a television. Of course, a few minutes later he asked me to bring him some juice…me with my stomach still rioting.

At least my problem didn’t last that long and got a lot better after about 12 hours. I have a quick update on my latest completed project.

Besides the obvious flaw that the bathroom (hard to see in this photo) doesn’t have a door, I really like the general framework of this “house”.

Now… with my updates complete… let’s move on to this week’s major development.

Joy of living (S2)

How long have we all been waiting for this one to finally make an appearance? Almost 5 years…and what is it that I see there is a season 3? It’s going to be a bit shaky if it takes another 5 years. I don’t think they will be able to maintain (almost) smooth continuity. With my memory I started season 2 and within 10 minutes I had to stop it and go find season 1. I don’t remember what happened in season 1 and who was who . So… I spent the last two or three days watching season 1 with FF. And according to WeTV’s rankings… I’m not the only one who had to rewatch season 1.

Season 2 picked up right where Season 1 left off, with Fan Xian “death” and all the “readers” in the real world wanting to know if he’s really dead. With the change of actor to Yan Bing Yun, it was a good idea to redo the last scene with the new actor.

Fan Xian’s death was questioned by everyone. So… it didn’t last very long. The “flavor” of most of the characters has been retained. The funny moments when the crown prince claims he is deaf and blind. And all the small talk that the “enemies” have with each other. And all the “celebrity” fallout that happened after his “death”. Even the “competition” performance…the DANCE! Kudos to the crew for keeping the tone pretty consistent. The introduction of new characters that we didn’t get to meet in season 1, including Wang Qi Nian’s wife, who, in addition to having a strong personality, probably knows more information than her husband. (Also, why is Lin Wan Er in the main cast? She didn’t appear much in season 1, I hope we see more of her in season 2.)

So…what is everyone’s goal? Find the temple, but why? What if no one can get in? And who else came from the same place? And is Wu Zhu a cyborg? So many questions…I need answers this season!

The Bridgerton Chronicles (Season 3)

Ok, I know this isn’t really part of our usual drama discussions, but I think it deserves a brief mention. Especially since they tell the story, out of order (at least in terms of the books). I seem to remember a lot of Benedict, Colin and Francesca’s “runs” (even though his story didn’t come out until after Eloise). I was worried about how they were going to tell Penelope’s story, because in the book she “changed” physically from book 1 to book 4. Basically, she “grew up” and lost the girly look of his childhood (at least that’s what I remember). I like the way the story develops, they kept the original intention of the plot. The series actually brought out a lot more of its sisters’ characters than I remember from the book. I can’t wait for part two!

And that’s all I’ve watched from major productions in recent weeks. I’ve been watching a lot of short drama series on YouTube, just because I have an attention span problem these days. Let’s see what else happens next week. There’s at least one I’m going to check out, Fox Spirit Matchmaker: Red Moon Pact. See you next week !
