Anne: Happy Tuesday, drama fans! Damn, where is all my time going these days? We all remember how slow time was when we were kids and I couldn’t wait to grow up. Now…I just want someone to take care of me! Is this really funny?!
I managed to take a week off work to go to the beach house my in-laws were renting. However, like all my other vacations, if I’m just hanging around the house with the wifi…I’m still “working.” What’s even more ridiculous is that, for some strange reason, the week I’m off is also the week new clients needed to talk to me. Sigh…so I worked at least 8 hours during my week off.
Unfortunately, I watch drama series stuck in these short drama series on YouTube. I also watch quite a few on drama apps. What is it about these that is SO addictive?! I think it’s because they don’t take much time.
I might post small updates throughout the week instead of one big update. Let’s see how it goes. My attention span for watching dramas keeps getting shorter. At this rate, I’ll go through all the normal length dramas in the future.
But I want to talk about a sort of short drama series.
Urban Horror (Taiwanese)
From MDL this was listed as a 2023 series. I only saw this last month. They are extremely short stories, 4-8 minutes, usually self-contained, with a few linked together. Some are better than others, but these short horror stories remind me of those short two-sentence “stories” I enjoyed when I was a teenager. These stories are often just a slice of life, without deep meaning or even resolution, and they relied primarily on the audience’s imagination to complete the scenes.
There are a total of 34 episodes. For some reason, my favorite episodes are tightly grouped in the middle and a few at the end.
Episode 10 is about a nice young man who offers to help a tourist take photos. (Now understand that there is a major gap in the logic, but who cares, I really like it!)
Episode 11 is about a neighbor who helps sign for packages…and what happens when she becomes too helpful by receiving a package that wasn’t meant for her.
Episode 12 is about the “street view” and how you can surprise yourself in several freeze frames. Well… this woman discovers that a certain person in red is always there when she is…
Episode 14 is about a woman who won’t leave the house and while she is talking on the phone with her friend about intruders, someone breaks into her house.
If anyone likes short, life horror plots, this seems more like an idea than a complete story. I highly recommend checking them out.
Snowfall

When I read this synopsis for the first time, I admit that I was hesitant… a “vampire” story? Don’t ask me why I’ve never been interested in Eastern dramas about Western traditions. But… this drama got great reviews and I started it recently. I’m not very far away, but it certainly doesn’t look like what I imagined.
Shen Zhi Heng is a century-old “vampire” who is not in Western tradition, at least he doesn’t kill people. Mi Lan is the eldest daughter of a wealthy company, born blind. And because of her disability, she is mistreated and abused by her mother. The day she decided to end her life, she met Zhi Heng after being injured during a summons attempt. As she went to get the help he needed, she met the person who tried to kill Zhi Heng. She claimed to have run away from home after fighting with her mother. Back at home, as she washes away the blood (which is a mixture of his and hers), she brings some slightly bloody water to wash her face. The next thing she knows, she can see her for the first time in her life. But it doesn’t last very long.
The story is quite intriguing. I can’t wait to see what evolves.
That’s all I experienced with all these short dramas taking up all my time. Plus planning a little boy’s 8th birthday party. And trying to catch up on my work…which I never seem to be able to do.
